Application
1). Daily Chemical Industry
Soaps & Detergents: used as surfactants to provide foaming and detergency, commonly used in soaps, body washes and other products.
Cosmetics: Used as emulsifiers or emollients in creams and lotions to enhance texture stability.
2). Food industry
Food additives (E570): used as emulsifiers, anti-caking agents or preservatives in processed foods (e.g. chocolate, phylloxera).
Fats and oils raw materials: Used in margarine, shortening, etc. to regulate the taste of food.
3). Pharmaceutical industry
Excipients: as lubricants in tablets, or as base ingredients in ointments and suppositories.

Storage
1). Temperature
Store in a cool place (15-25°C recommended), avoid high temperature (melting point about 63°C) to prevent melting or lumping.
2). Moisture
Store sealed in a dry environment to prevent moisture absorption and caking (palmitic acid is prone to moisture absorption).
3). Containers
Use containers made of inert materials (e.g. glass, polyethylene), avoid metals (may catalyze oxidation).
4). Avoid light
Avoid direct sunlight, brown bottles or shaded storage is recommended to reduce the risk of photodegradation.
5). Isolation from oxidizing sources
Keep away from strong oxidizing agents (e.g. peroxides, nitric acid) to avoid violent reactions.
Stability
1). Chemical stability
Stable at room temperature: not easy to decompose spontaneously, but may crack into small molecules (e.g. hydrocarbons, CO₂) at high temperature (>200°C).
Oxidation risk: long-term exposure to air may slowly oxidize, generating peroxides or aldehydes and ketones (it is recommended to add antioxidants such as BHT).
Hydrolysis: easily hydrolyzed to palmitate under strong acid/base conditions, avoid humidity and extreme pH environment.
2). Physical stability
Morphological changes: temperature fluctuations may cause changes in crystal structure, but do not affect chemical properties.
Hygroscopic agglomeration: may agglomerate when humidity is high, can be dried and treated to restore use.
3) Long-term storage recommendations
Regularly check the appearance (color, odor), sealing, if there is obvious yellowing or odor need to assess whether the failure.
