Application
1). Coatings and resins: Used as a medium boiling point solvent for nitro lacquers, acrylic resins, etc. The evaporation rate is between ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, and it is suitable for coatings that require a balance between drying speed and leveling.
2). Ink and Printing: Used in fast drying ink to reduce the sticking problem in printing process.
3). Industrial Cleaning: Dissolve grease and wax, commonly used for cleaning precision instruments or electronic components.
4). Because of its fruit aroma (such as banana, pear), it is widely used in food flavoring, cosmetics and daily chemical products.
5). As a reaction solvent or intermediate, involved in the synthesis of drugs, pesticides or other ester derivatives.
6). Used as extractant or reference substance for gas chromatography analysis.
Storage
1). Temperature: Store in a cool place (15-30℃ recommended), avoid high temperature to trigger volatilization or decomposition.
2). Ventilation and light avoidance: Keep well ventilated to prevent vapor accumulation; store away from light to reduce the risk of photochemical degradation.
3). Use stainless steel, glass or solvent-resistant plastic (e.g. HDPE) containers, tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and volatilization.
4). Keep away from oxidizing agents (e.g. peroxides), strong acids/bases to avoid ester hydrolysis or oxidation reactions.
5). The storage area should be equipped with explosion-proof equipment and fire prevention measures (e.g. dry powder fire extinguishers).
Stability
1). Hydrolysis sensitivity: easily hydrolyzed under acidic or alkaline conditions to form acetic acid and isobutanol, avoid direct contact with acids/alkalis.
2). Oxidation risk: may slowly oxidize when exposed to air for a long period of time, it is recommended to store in nitrogen to prolong the stability.
3). Volatility: Boiling point about 118℃, lower than butyl acetate (boiling point 126℃), more volatile, need to be strictly sealed.
4). Hygroscopicity: slightly hygroscopic, humid environment may accelerate hydrolysis, need to control relative humidity <60%.
5). Temperature: High temperature (>40℃) significantly accelerate decomposition, storage temperature is recommended ≤30℃.
6). Metal ions: Iron, copper and other metal ions may catalyze the oxidation reaction, avoid using metal containers.
