Application
1). Isopropyl myristate is a non-lipidic emollient that is very readily absorbed into the skin. It is one of the components of semi-solid matrices and is also used as a solvent for many substances in topically administered preparations.
2). It is used in a variety of topical preparations and cosmetics, including bath oils, cosmetics, hair and nail care products, creams, lotions, lip balms, shaving creams, emollients, deodorants, suspensions for the ear, and vaginal creams.
3). Isopropyl myristate is a self-emulsifying ingredient in a certain cold cream prescription which serves as a base for many drugs and medicines for the skin .
4). In cosmetics, it also has applications in stabilized mixtures of water and glycerin.
5). Isopropyl myristate is used as a penetration enhancer in transdermal absorption formulations in combination with therapeutic ultrasound and iontophoresis.
6). Isopropyl myristate is used as a major component of the oil phase in water-oil gel prolonged-release emulsion.
