Application
1). Medical Termination of Early Pregnancy: Primarily used as an antiprogestin to induce abortion in early pregnancy (up to 10 weeks gestation) when used in combination with misoprostol. It works by blocking progesterone receptors, leading to uterine contractions and detachment of the embryo.
2). Treatment of Cushing's Syndrome: Serves as an antiglucocorticoid to manage signs and symptoms of Cushing's syndrome (excess cortisol) by blocking glucocorticoid receptors, particularly in patients with endogenous Cushing's who are not candidates for surgery or other treatments.
