Application
1). Edible Flavors: have a fruity aroma similar to pineapple, banana or apple, and are widely used as flavorings in beverages, confectionery, baked goods, ice cream and dairy products.
2). Daily Chemical Flavor: Used in perfumes, skin care products, soaps and detergents to provide a sweet and fruity base.
3). Used as a medium-polar solvent to dissolve organic components in resins, coatings, inks and adhesives.
4). Used as a reaction medium or extractant in pharmaceuticals or chemicals.
5). Used in the synthesis of other ester derivatives, drug intermediates (e.g., local anesthetics or fragrance precursors).
Storage
1). Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place at a recommended temperature of 10-25°C. Avoid high temperatures (which may lead to volatilization or decomposition).
2). Sealing: Strictly sealed in glass, stainless steel or ester solvent resistant containers to prevent moisture absorption or oxidation.
3). Avoid light: sensitive to light, need to be stored away from light to retard degradation.
4). Flammability: It is a flammable liquid (flash point about 60-70℃), keep away from fire, static electricity and strong oxidizing agents (such as peroxides, nitrates).
5). Compatibility: Avoid contact with strong acids and bases, which may trigger violent hydrolysis or ester exchange reactions.
6). The storage area needs to be well ventilated to prevent vapors from gathering.
7). Wear protective gloves, goggles and gas mask during operation to avoid direct contact with skin or inhalation of vapors.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis: It is easy to be hydrolyzed to heptanoic acid and ethanol under humidity or acid-base condition, keep the environment dry.
2). Oxidation: It may be slowly oxidized when exposed to air for a long time, it is recommended to keep it under nitrogen or add antioxidant (e.g. BHT).
3). Volatility: Medium volatility (boiling point about 190-200℃), need to be sealed to minimize the loss.
4). Thermal decomposition: High temperature (>150℃) may decompose to form olefins and carboxylic acid irritating gases.
5). Regularly check the sealing of the container, if the liquid appears turbid, precipitation or sour smell, it indicates that it may have been hydrolyzed and need to stop using.
6). It is recommended to purchase in batches to avoid degradation of quality due to long term storage (more than 2 years).
