Application
1). Coatings and inks: As a high boiling point solvent (boiling point about 170-173℃), it is used in epoxy resins, acrylic coatings, etc. to prolong the drying time and improve the leveling of coatings.
2). Adhesive: dissolve rubber or resin, enhance plasticity and durability of adhesive.
3). Industrial cleaning: Remove grease and resin residue on the surface of mechanical parts or electronic equipment.
4). Food flavoring: with fruit aroma such as apple, pear, etc., used for flavoring candy and beverage (need to meet food grade standards).
5). Cosmetics: as a volatile solvent or excipient in perfume and emulsion.
6). Used for synthesizing other ester derivatives or as a solvent for organic reactions.
7). As a reference substance in gas chromatography analysis or as an extractant for organic synthesis.
Storage
1). Temperature: Store in a cool place (15-30℃ recommended), avoid high temperature (>40℃) leading to decomposition or accelerated hydrolysis.
2). Humidity control: Keep the environment dry (relative humidity <50%) to prevent hydrolysis of esters.
3). Avoid light: Reduce the risk of photo-oxidation, especially avoid direct UV light.
4). Container material: use glass, stainless steel or solvent-resistant plastic (e.g. HDPE, PTFE) containers to avoid metal ion (e.g. copper, iron) catalyzed degradation.
5). Sealing: Strictly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and evaporation, long-term storage can be filled with nitrogen gas protection.
6). Keep away from reactants: store separately from strong oxidizers (e.g. peroxides), strong acids and strong bases to prevent chemical reactions.
7). Fire prevention measures: the storage area is equipped with explosion-proof equipment and dry powder/carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis sensitivity: Hydrolyzed to acetic acid and hexanol under acidic/alkaline conditions or high temperature and humidity.
2). Oxidation risk: may slowly oxidize to peroxides when exposed to air for a long period of time, avoid oxygen contact.
3). Volatility: high boiling point (about 170℃), slow volatilization, but still need to be sealed and stored to prevent loss.
4). Hygroscopicity: low hygroscopicity, but humid environment may still promote hydrolysis.
5). Temperature: high temperature (>50℃) significantly accelerate decomposition, it is recommended that the storage temperature ≤30℃.
6). Light: UV rays may trigger photo-oxidation, need to be stored away from light.
7). Impurities and catalysts: metal ions or acidic impurities may catalyze hydrolysis or oxidation reactions.
