Application
1). Edible Flavors: with strong apple, banana or tropical fruit aroma, widely used as flavorings in candy, beverages, baked goods, ice cream and dairy products.
2). Daily chemical flavor: used in perfume, skin care products, soaps and detergents, providing a sweet fruity base.
3). As a non-polar solvent for dissolving polymers in resins, coatings, inks and adhesives.
4). As a reaction medium or extractant in pharmaceuticals or chemicals.
5). Used in the synthesis of other ester compounds, spice derivatives or drug precursors (e.g., intermediates for sedatives or anti-inflammatory drugs).
Storage
1). Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place at a recommended temperature of 10-25°C. Avoid high temperatures (which may cause volatilization or decomposition).
2). Sealing: Strictly sealed in glass, stainless steel or plastic containers resistant to ester solvents to prevent moisture absorption or oxidation.
3). Avoid light: sensitive to light, need to be stored away from light to retard degradation.
4). Flammability: It is a flammable liquid (flash point about 70-80℃), keep it away from fire, static electricity and strong oxidizing agents (such as peroxides, nitrates).
5). Compatibility: Avoid contact with strong acids and bases, which may cause violent hydrolysis or ester exchange reaction.
6). The storage area needs to be well ventilated to prevent vapors from gathering.
7). Wear protective gloves, goggles and gas mask during operation to avoid skin contact or inhalation of vapors.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis: Hydrolyzed to isovaleric acid and isopentanol under humid or acid-base conditions, keep the environment dry.
2). Oxidation: may slowly oxidize when exposed to air for a long period of time, it is recommended to store under nitrogen or add antioxidants (e.g. BHT).
3). Volatility: low volatility (compared to short chain esters), but still need to be kept sealed to minimize losses.
4). Thermal decomposition: may decompose at high temperatures (>150°C) to form olefins and carboxylic acid irritant gases.
5). Regularly check the sealing of the container and the state of the liquid, if there is turbidity, precipitation or sour smell, it indicates that it may have been hydrolyzed and need to stop using.
6). It is recommended to purchase in small quantities in batches to avoid degradation of quality due to long term storage (more than 2 years).
