Application
1). Coatings & Inks: Used as a medium-boiling solvent (boiling point about 101-102°C) for nitro lacquers, acrylic resin coatings and printing inks, balancing evaporation rate and leveling.
2). Adhesives and cleaners: used in quick-drying adhesives, electronic component cleaners and degreasing agents, dissolving grease, rosin and other organic substances.
3). Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics: used as solvent for drug coating or volatile carrier for cosmetics (e.g. nail polish, hairspray).
4). Flavor & Fragrance: Provide fruit aroma such as pear, banana, etc., used in candy, beverage and baked food (need to comply with food-grade standards, such as GB 2760).
5). Extractant: extract natural ingredients (such as plant essential oils or caffeine).
6). Organic intermediates: involved in the synthesis of isopropyl acetate, drugs (e.g. antibiotics) or pesticide precursors.
7). Ester exchange reaction: used to prepare long chain esters or functionalized ester compounds.
8). Chromatography: as solvent or diluent for gas chromatography.
9). Reaction media: as solvents for esterification and condensation reactions, especially in systems requiring medium polarity.
Storage
1). Sealed and protected from light: use glass or stainless steel containers, avoid plastic (may dissolve or chemically penetrate).
2). Cool and ventilated: storage temperature recommended 4-25°C, away from heat sources (flash point approx. 14°C, flammable liquid).
3). Humidity control: relative humidity <60% to prevent moisture absorption and hydrolysis.
4). Fire and explosion prevention: the storage area needs to be equipped with explosion-proof equipment and dry powder/carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, and open flames are prohibited.
5). Anti-static grounding: containers and pipes need to be grounded to reduce the risk of static sparks.
6). Personal protection: Wear gas mask, goggles and solvent-resistant gloves (e.g. nitrile rubber) when operating.
7). Transportation according to hazardous chemicals (UN 1276, category 3 flammable liquids), avoid direct sunlight and high temperature environment.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis: easily hydrolyzed to acetic acid and propanol under strong acid/base conditions, avoid long-term contact with water.
2). Thermal stability: stable at room temperature, but may decompose to olefins and carboxylic acids at high temperature (>150°C).
3). Oxidizability: may slowly oxidize to form peroxides when exposed to air for long periods of time (periodic testing of purity is recommended).
4). Stable for 1-2 years when unopened, recommended to be used within 6 months after opening, tightly sealed and stored with nitrogen to extend shelf life.
5). Avoid contact with: strong oxidizing agents (e.g. peroxide, nitric acid), strong acids, strong bases and reactive metals (e.g. sodium).
6). Compatible materials: glass, stainless steel, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), high density polyethylene (HDPE short-term contact).
