Application
1). Pharmaceutical Industry:
Propionic acid can be used as a solvent for drugs, used in the preparation of injections, oral liquids and so on. As an acidic substance, it is used to adjust the pH value of drugs and enhance the stability and solubility of drugs.
2). Food Industry:
Propionic acid is a food additive with antimicrobial and preservative properties, which prevents food spoilage and prolongs shelf life. Used as a leavening agent for bread, dough and other baked goods to promote dough expansion.
3). Cosmetic field:
Propionic acid has moisturizing, antibacterial and antiseptic effects and can be used in cosmetic formulations. It can help the skin retain moisture and increase the smoothness and softness of the skin. Adjust the acidity and alkalinity of cosmetics, improve the stability and the feeling of use.

Storage
1). Storage Precautions Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse.

3). Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately from oxidising agents, reducing agents and alkalis, and should never be mixed.
4). Use explosion-proof type lighting and ventilation facilities.
5). Prohibit the use of spark-prone mechanical equipment and tools. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable shelter materials.
Stability
1). Chemical properties: it has the chemical properties of general carboxylic acid, can form chlorides, anhydrides, esters, amides, nitriles and other compounds. α-hydrogen atom is easily replaced by halogen under the catalysis of phosphorus trichloride to produce α-halogenated propionic acid.
2). Propionic acid is a flammable liquid, low toxicity, irritant to mucous membranes and bactericidal. When the skin is contaminated with propionic acid, it should be rinsed with a lot of water.
3). It is a low toxicity category. It is less toxic than formic acid and has irritating effect on eyes, skin and mucous membrane. It has bactericidal property like acetic acid, can inhibit the growth of bacteria, in 5%~7% solution, bacteria will be completely killed in 15 minutes. Rinse with water immediately when in contact with skin.
4). Stability:Stable.
5). Prohibited substances:Alkalis, strong oxidising agents, strong reducing agents.
