Application
1). Edible oil ingredients: olive oil, tea seed oil, etc. are rich in oleic acid, which is used as a healthy fat source to help lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) and maintain cardiovascular health.
2). Food additives: used as emulsifiers or stabilizers to enhance the taste and shelf life of processed foods (e.g. margarine, salad dressings).
3). Emollient & Moisturizer: Acts as a natural lipid component of the skin to enhance barrier function and is commonly used in creams, conditioners and lip balms.
4). Penetrating agents: help other active ingredients (e.g. vitamins, drugs) to be absorbed through the skin.
5). Lubricants: Used in machinery lubricants or metalworking fluids to provide anti-wear and anti-rust properties.
6). Surfactants: core ingredient in the production of soaps, detergents and industrial cleaners.

Storage
1). Avoiding light: It is recommended to use dark glass containers or light-avoiding packaging to reduce UV-induced oxidation reactions.
2). Temperature control: short-term storage at room temperature (20-25°C) is feasible, long-term storage requires refrigeration (below 4°C) to avoid high temperature accelerated decomposition.
3). Inert gas protection: Nitrogen or argon gas filling and sealing to reduce the oxygen content in the container.
4). Material: glass, stainless steel or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) containers to avoid dissolution reactions with certain plastics.

Stability
1). Monounsaturated structure: compared to polyunsaturated fatty acids (e.g. linoleic acid), oleic acid has fewer double bonds and is more resistant to oxidation, but still needs to be protected from prolonged exposure to oxygen.
2). Auto-oxidation: generates peroxides and aldehydes, leading to rancidity and off-flavors.
3). High temperature sensitivity: over 40°C will significantly accelerate oxidation, need to strictly control the storage temperature.
4). Shelf life: can usually be stored for 1-2 years when unopened, recommended to be used up within 6-12 months after opening.
5). Antioxidant: Add 0.01%-0.05% Vitamin E (Tocopherol) or BHT to prolong stability.
6). Chelating agent: EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) can complex metal ions and reduce catalytic oxidation.
