Application
1). Food and flavor industry
Edible Flavors: Ethyl succinate has a slight fruity and wine-like aroma, and can be used to flavor beverages, confectionery and dairy products, but it is used in lesser quantities, mainly as an auxiliary aroma enhancer.
Wine flavoring: small amounts are used to formulate the complex aroma of certain liquors (e.g. wine).
2). Pharmaceutical and Chemical Synthesis
Drug intermediates: used as intermediates in the synthesis of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs or vitamin drugs (e.g. synthesis of vitamin E derivatives).
Chiral synthesis: its ester group structure can be used to prepare chiral compounds in asymmetric catalyzed reactions.
3). Industrial applications
Plasticizer: used as a plasticizer for polyester and cellulose resins to improve material flexibility and processability.
Organic solvents: used to dissolve polar resins in coatings, inks or adhesives.

Storage
1). Environmental requirements
Protected from light and sealed: Store in brown glass bottles or light-shielding containers to avoid UV-induced oxidation or decomposition.
Cool and dry: Temperature is recommended to be controlled at 10-30℃, humidity below 50%, away from heat sources (flash point about 80-100℃).
Well-ventilated: Store in a fire and explosion-proof area to avoid the accumulation of vapors.
2). Container selection
Use glass, stainless steel or corrosion-resistant plastic (e.g. HDPE) containers, avoid contact with active metals (e.g. aluminum, zinc).
3). Safety segregation
Classified storage: store separately from strong acids, strong bases, oxidizers (e.g. peroxides, nitrates) to prevent violent reactions.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis sensitivity
It is easy to be hydrolyzed to succinic acid (succinic acid) and ethanol under the condition of strong acid or strong alkali, avoid contact with acid and alkali and long-term exposure to humid environment.
2). Thermal stability
Stable at room temperature, but high temperature (>120℃) may cause decomposition or oxidation, long-term storage at high temperature should be careful.
3). Oxidation and Degradation
Good resistance to oxidation, but may slowly oxidize when exposed to air for a long period of time, it is recommended to be sealed and stored with nitrogen or inert gas.
4). Compatibility
Good compatibility with most organic solvents (e.g., ethanol, acetone), but contact with strong oxidizing agents (e.g., concentrated sulfuric acid, ozone) may cause violent reactions.
