Application
1). Food additives: widely used in the formulation of fruit flavors (such as apple, pineapple, banana and other flavors), to give sweet and fruity flavor, need to comply with food safety standards.
2). Daily chemical products: used in perfume, cosmetics, soaps and detergents, to provide fresh fruit flavor.
3). As a solvent for paints, inks and adhesives, it can dissolve nitrocellulose, resins and some plastics.
4). Used in cleaning agent or degreasing agent formulations for the electronics industry.
5). Participate in ester exchange, hydrolysis and other reactions, used in the synthesis of drugs (such as local anesthetic precursors) or pesticide intermediates.
6). Used in the laboratory for the preparation of other ester derivatives or as a reaction solvent.
Storage
1). Temperature: Store in a cool place (recommended 10-25°C), avoid high temperatures (to prevent volatilization or decomposition).
2). Humidity: keep dry, prevent moisture absorption (humid environment may accelerate hydrolysis).
3). LIGHT: Store away from light (use brown glass bottle or store in dark place).
4). Use glass, stainless steel or corrosion-resistant plastic containers, tightly sealed to minimize the risk of volatilization and oxidation.
5). Avoid mixing with strong oxidizing agents (e.g. peroxides), strong acids/bases.
6). Flammability: Flash point about 44°C (flammable liquid), storage area should be fire and explosion proof, away from ignition sources and static electricity.
7). Ventilation: Ensure that the storage environment is well ventilated to avoid the accumulation of vapors (vapors are denser than air).
Stability
1). Hydrolysis: It is easy to be hydrolyzed to valeric acid and ethanol under acidic or alkaline conditions, humidity should be controlled and contact with acid/alkali should be avoided.
2). Oxidation: may slowly oxidize when exposed to air for a long period of time, it is recommended to store in nitrogen or add antioxidants.
3). Volatility: Boiling point is about 145-148°C. Volatilization is slow at room temperature, but it should be kept sealed to minimize loss.
4). Effect of low temperature: Low temperature may cause turbidity or solidification, but it will not affect the use after returning to normal temperature.
5). When unopened, it can be stored stably for 1-2 years under suitable conditions, after opening, it should be sealed strictly and used as soon as possible.
