Application
1). Used as a food additive to provide a fruity flavor similar to apple, pineapple or strawberry, and is widely used in beverages, confectionery and baked goods.
2). Used in daily chemical products and cosmetics to blend perfumes and soaps.
3). Used as a solvent in paints, inks and adhesives to dissolve organic substances such as resins and oils.
4). Used as reaction medium or extraction solvent in pharmaceutical industry.
5). As an intermediate to participate in ester exchange, hydrolysis and other reactions to synthesize other chemicals (e.g. drugs, plastic additives).
Storage
1). TEMPERATURE: Store in a cool place (15-25℃ recommended), avoid high temperature and direct sunlight.
2). Ventilation: Place in a well-ventilated area, away from fire and heat sources (flash point about 18-25℃, is a flammable liquid).
3). Sealing: Keep the container tightly sealed to prevent volatilization and moisture from entering, can be protected by nitrogen to reduce the risk of oxidation.
4). Avoid contact with strong acids, strong bases, oxidizing/reducing agents to prevent hydrolysis or violent reactions.
5). Use stainless steel or glass containers to avoid certain plastic materials being dissolved.
6). Equip the storage area with explosion-proof equipment and fire prevention facilities, and handle the transportation according to the specification of dangerous goods.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis: easily hydrolyzed to isobutyric acid and ethanol in acidic/alkaline environments, need to be kept dry.
2). Oxidation: Saturated structure, low risk of oxidation, but may slowly oxidize with prolonged exposure.
3). Volatilization: volatile, need to be kept sealed to minimize loss.
4). Decomposition: may decompose at high temperatures (>100°C), releasing irritating gases.
5). Regularly check the sealing to avoid impurities or moisture mixing to cause deterioration.
6). If there is turbidity, precipitation or odor, it may have decomposed and need to be disposed of.
