Application
1). Core applications: as a synthetic food flavor (FEMA No.: 2032, GRAS certified), widely used:
2). Beverage: blending tropical fruit flavors (e.g. pineapple, banana-flavored carbonated beverages, fruit juices).
3). Confectionery/bakery: enhance sweetener effect, used in fudge, jelly, cake sandwich.
4). Dairy: Enhance the fruity flavor level of yogurt, ice cream.
5). Advantage: low aroma threshold (0.01 ppm), a small amount can achieve significant flavor enhancement effect.
6). Perfume / skin care products: as a Top Note ingredient, providing fresh fruity top notes, used in perfumes, shower gels, shampoos.
7). Industrial flavor: used in air fresheners, candles and other products.
8). Polymerization monomer: the active double bond of allyl can participate in free radical polymerization, used in the synthesis of polymer materials (such as special resins).
9). Organic synthesis: used as raw material for ester exchange reaction to prepare other esters or carboxylic acid derivatives.
Storage
1). TEMPERATURE: Refrigeration at 2-8°C is recommended for long term storage, short term use can be stored in a cool place (<25°C).
2). Protection from light: brown glass bottles or aluminum foil wrapped containers are required to prevent UV-induced oxidation/polymerization.
3). Humidity: relative humidity <40%, avoid hydrolysis (contact with water generates hexanoic acid and allyl alcohol).
4). Material: preferably glass, stainless steel or Teflon lined containers, avoid contact with plastics such as PVC (may dissolve).
5). Inert gas protection: Seal with nitrogen or argon gas after opening to reduce oxygen contact.
6). Industrial grade products need to add 10-50 ppm hydroquinone (HQ) or MEHQ to inhibit free radical polymerization.
7). Stable for 2-3 years under unopened refrigerated condition, recommended to use up within 6 months after opening.
Stability
1). Decomposition temperature: decomposition begins at >150°C, releasing irritating gases (e.g. acrolein).
2). Operation suggestion: heating should be carried out under inert atmosphere (N₂), avoid high temperature distillation.
3). Acidic/alkaline conditions: rapid hydrolysis in strong acid (pH<2) or strong base (pH>10), need to control the reaction environment pH neutral.
4). Double bond activity: easily oxidized to produce peroxide when exposed to air or light, or trigger self-polymerization reaction (to produce viscous polymer).
5). Preventive measures: add antioxidants (e.g. BHT) and strictly avoid light.
6). Avoid exposure: strong oxidizing agents (e.g. peroxides, nitric acid), heavy metal salts (e.g. Fe³⁺, Cu²⁺ catalysts).
