Application
1). Protein Denaturation and Solubilization: Guanidine hydrochloride denatures proteins by disrupting secondary bonds such as hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions within protein molecules, thereby destabilizing their spatial structure.
2). Nucleic Acid Extraction and Purification: During genomic DNA and total RNA extraction, high concentrations of guanidine hydrochloride inhibit nuclease activity, preventing nucleic acid degradation.
3). Antibody Purification: Used for immunoglobulin extraction and purification by adjusting solution conditions to achieve antibody separation.
4). As a Synthetic Intermediate or Catalyst: Employed in key steps for synthesizing guanidine compounds, heterocyclic compounds, and certain drug active molecules.
5). Preparation of Other Guanidine Salts: By reacting with corresponding acids or salts, it can be used to prepare other guanidine derivatives such as guanidine nitrate and guanidine sulfate.
Storage
1). Container Selection: Store in sealed, dry, corrosion-resistant containers with tightly closed lids to prevent moisture ingress and deliquescence.
2). Temperature: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area. The ideal storage temperature is 15-25°C. Avoid direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources to prevent decomposition or accelerated moisture absorption due to excessive heat.
3). Humidity: Strictly control relative humidity in the storage environment (recommended ≤60%). Avoid storage in humid conditions to prevent deliquescence and caking.

Hygroscopicity and Deliquescence: Guanidine hydrochloride exhibits extremely strong hygroscopic properties. When exposed to air, it rapidly absorbs moisture, gradually deliquescing into a viscous liquid, which subsequently compromises its purity and efficacy. Therefore, a "dry environment" is the core condition for maintaining its physical stability.
