Allyl hexanoate is a food flavoring temporarily allowed for use in my country, and is commonly used to prepare fruity food flavors and tobacco flavors such as strawberry, apricot, peach, sweet orange, pineapple, and apple. However, IFRA stipulates that the allyl alcohol content in commercial allyl hexanoate should not exceed 0.1% because allyl alcohol has a stimulating effect.
