Application
1). As a food flavor, it is used to formulate various kinds of edible flavors (such as fruit flavor, cream flavor), and improve the flavor of food (such as candy, beverage, bakery products, etc.).
2). It can be used as food additive (acidity regulator) to regulate the pH value of food, and at the same time, it has a certain preservative effect.
3). Used in the synthesis of hexanoic acid esters (such as ethyl hexanoate, butyl hexanoate), these esters are important organic solvents and raw materials for flavors, widely used in coatings, inks, cosmetics and other industries.
4). As pharmaceutical intermediates, involved in the synthesis of certain drugs (such as antibiotics, hormone drugs).
5). As feed additives, used to improve the palatability of feed, or as raw materials for animal growth promoters.
6). Used in the preparation of lubricants, plasticizers and surfactants and other chemical products.
Storage
1). It should be stored in a cool and ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat source, and the temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30℃.
2). Avoid mixing and storing with oxidizers, alkalis, reducing agents and other substances to prevent chemical reaction.
3). Use sealed containers (such as galvanized iron drums, plastic drums) to ensure that the package is intact and without leakage, to prevent vapor volatilization or contact with the air.
4). The storage area should be equipped with appropriate fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment, and the operator should comply with the safety regulations of fire prevention and explosion-proof.
Stability
1). Stable at room temperature and pressure, but may decompose at high temperature to produce irritating gases (e.g. carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide).
2). Easily oxidized when in contact with strong oxidizing agents (e.g. potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide), and reacts with alkalis to form hexanoates.
3). Avoid prolonged exposure to humid air or high temperature environment, otherwise it may lead to moisture absorption or deterioration of the product, affecting the purity and use effect.
4). Caproic acid is corrosive, contact with skin or eyes may cause irritation, protective gloves, goggles and other protective equipment should be worn during operation.
5). Its vapor mixed with air may form explosive mixtures, need to be kept away from sources of ignition, to prevent static electricity accumulation.
