Application
1). Glycol is the core component of antifreeze in the cooling system of automobile, industrial equipment, etc. By mixing with water in a certain proportion, it can significantly reduce the freezing point and increase the boiling point, effectively preventing low-temperature icing and expansion from damaging the equipment and high-temperature boiling.
2). As an important organic chemical intermediate, it is mainly used in the production of polyester products.
3). Because of its good solubility and hygroscopicity, it can be used as a solvent for ink, dyestuff and paint, as well as a moisturizing agent in cosmetics and detergents; it is also used as a solvent or extractant in the pharmaceutical industry.
4). It can be used in the preparation of glycol ethers (such as glycol monomethyl ether, ethyl ether), as a solvent or surfactant; it can also be used as a component of hydraulic fluid, brake fluid, or used in the synthesis of plasticizers, explosives and so on.
Storage
1). It should be stored in cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat source, and the temperature of the warehouse should not exceed 30℃.
2). It should be stored in well-sealed galvanized iron drums, plastic drums or storage tanks to prevent moisture absorption and volatilization; containers should be clearly marked to avoid confusion with other chemicals.
3). It should be stored separately from strong oxidizers, strong acids, strong bases, etc., and avoid mixed storage to prevent chemical reactions.
Stability
1). Stable at room temperature, dry conditions, not easy to decompose; but hygroscopic, long-term exposure to the air will absorb water, resulting in a decline in purity.
2). It may decompose under high temperature, generating products such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide; when contacting with strong oxidizing agents, it may undergo oxidation reaction and exothermic, even triggering combustion; reacting with strong acids may generate ester compounds.
