Application
1). Gives foods a strong banana, pear or pineapple flavor and is widely used in candy, beverages, baked goods and ice cream.
2). Meets GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) standards and is used as a natural flavor equivalent.
3). Used in perfumes, shampoos, body washes and other products to provide a sweet and fruity base.
4). Used as a key ingredient in the formulation of complex fragrances (e.g. tropical fruits, mixed fruits).
5). Improve the taste of tobacco products by adding sweetness and fruity aftertaste to the smoke.
6). Used as a solvent in paints and inks in a few cases, but the application is limited due to high cost.
Storage
1). Protect from light: Store in brown glass bottles or lightproof containers to prevent oxidation or decomposition triggered by ultraviolet rays.
2). Low temperature: It is recommended to store it in the shade at 15-25℃, high temperature (>40℃) will accelerate volatilization and chemical degradation.
3). Sealing: Tightly sealed (e.g. with PTFE lined caps) to prevent volatilization and moisture absorption.
4). Fill container with nitrogen for long term storage to minimize contact with oxygen.
5). Keep away from strong oxidizing agents (e.g. persulfate), strong acids/bases to avoid violent reactions or ester bond breakage.
Stability
1). Easily hydrolyzed under acidic or alkaline environment to produce isobutyric acid and isopentyl alcohol, humidity control is required (relative humidity <65%).
2). Short-term resistance to medium temperature, but long-term high temperature will cause decomposition, it is recommended that the storage temperature does not exceed 30 ℃.
3). Exposure to air may slowly oxidize and lead to deterioration of aroma (sour taste), need to be isolated from oxygen.
4). Sensitive to ultraviolet light, storage away from light can extend shelf life (usually 2-3 years).
