Application
1). Flavor enhancer: commonly used to give food fruit flavor, such as apple, banana, apricot, etc., used in candy, baked goods, beverages and dairy products.
2). Flavor blending: used in synergy with other esters to simulate natural fruit aroma.
3). Personal care products: used as a fragrance ingredient in shampoo, body wash, perfume, soap, etc. to provide a sweet fruity base.
4). Household products: used in air fresheners and cleaners to improve odor.
5). Coatings & Inks: Used as a medium to high boiling point solvent (boiling point around 179°C) to regulate drying speed and dissolve resins.
6). Other applications: as an additive in plastics or rubber processing, or for extracting natural products.
7). Involved in organic synthesis, such as raw materials or reaction intermediates in pharmaceutical or pesticide production.
Storage
1). AVOID LIGHT: Store in brown glass containers or in an opaque environment to prevent photolysis.
2). Sealed: use glass or stainless steel containers, avoid plastic (may dissolve or react).
3). DRY AND VENTILATED: humidity controlled (relative humidity <60%), well ventilated area to minimize vapor buildup.
4). Recommended storage temperature 4-25°C, avoid heat (to prevent volatilization or decomposition) and freezing.
5). Keep away from ignition sources: it is a flammable liquid (flash point approx. 72°C) and should be protected from fire and explosion.
6). Personal protection: wear gloves and goggles when operating, avoid inhaling vapors or contacting skin.
Stability
1). Hydrolysis sensitivity: easily hydrolyzed to butyric acid and isoamyl alcohol under strong acid/base conditions, avoid exposure to such environments.
2). Thermal stability: stable at room temperature, but long term high temperature (>60°C) may cause decomposition.
3). Oxidative stability: low risk of oxidation if no unsaturated structure; however, storage with nitrogen is recommended to extend shelf life.
4). Usually stable for 1-2 years under unopened conditions; use as soon as possible after opening and seal tightly.
5). Avoid direct contact with strong oxidizers, acids and alkalis to prevent violent reactions.
