Application
1). Nucleoside drug synthesis intermediates: as an important biosynthetic precursor, it is used in the preparation of antiviral drugs (e.g. ribavirin), antitumor drugs and immunomodulators, etc. It is involved in the synthesis of nucleotides and coenzymes (e.g. ATP, NADH).
2). Heart and muscle energy metabolism support: in clinical nutrition, it can be used as a nutraceutical ingredient to assist in improving myocardial ischemia, fatigue recovery after exercise, and enhance cellular energy metabolism by promoting ATP synthesis.
3). Nutritional enhancer: added to sports drinks and nutritional supplements to replenish the body's metabolic needs for ribose and enhance the efficiency of energy synthesis, especially for athletes and high-intensity physical laborers.
4). Food seasoning and preservation: used in small quantities in food processing to improve flavor, or as a synergistic component of natural antioxidants.
5). Skin care additives: Using its moisturizing and antioxidant properties, it is used in creams, serums and other products to assist in improving the skin barrier function and reducing free radical damage.
6). As a laboratory reagent, used in nucleic acid (RNA) synthesis research, enzyme reaction substrate and microbial culture medium components.
Storage
1). Environmental requirements: store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from light, away from heat sources and open flames.
2). Container selection: Use sealed containers (such as glass bottles or food-grade plastic bottles) to avoid moisture absorption or contact with air. Industrial grade products can be packed in cardboard drums or metal drums lined with plastic bags.
3). Avoid mixing and storing with oxidizers, acids and alkalis to prevent chemical reaction.
4). Food grade and pharmaceutical grade products need to be strictly differentiated between storage areas to ensure compliance with GMP and other quality control requirements.
5). Temperature control: conventional storage temperature is 10~30℃, long-term storage is recommended to be controlled below 25℃, humidity ≤60% RH.
Stability
1). Hygroscopicity: D-ribose is highly hygroscopic and is prone to deliquescence when exposed to humid environments, so it should be stored in sealed containers to keep it dry.
2). Acid and alkali tolerance: stable under neutral conditions, hydrolysis may occur in strong acid or alkali environments, avoid contact with extreme pH solutions.
3). Thermal stability: stable at room temperature, high temperature (e.g. more than 120℃) or prolonged heating may lead to decomposition, generating furfural and other products, affecting the purity.
4). Oxidation reaction: oxidation reaction may occur when encountering strong oxidizing agents (e.g. peroxides), avoid mixed storage.
