Application
1). As a natural flavor, it gives products a fruity, sweet or creamy aroma and is used for flavor blending in soft drinks, confectionery, baked goods, dairy products (e.g. yogurt, ice cream).
2). Suitable for clean label products.
3). Used in perfume, toiletries, as a flavor component to enhance the level of aroma, especially suitable for citrus, floral or oriental flavor formulations.
4). As an intermediate in organic synthesis, used in the preparation of drugs (e.g., chiral drug precursors) or biodegradable materials (e.g., raw materials for the synthesis of polyhydroxy fatty acid ester PHA).
5). As substrate or metabolite model in microbial metabolism research, used in fermentation engineering, synthetic biology field.
Storage
1). Protected from light and sealed: stored in brown glass bottles or opaque containers to prevent decomposition caused by light.
2). Cool and dry: store in a well-ventilated and cool place with recommended temperature ≤25℃ and humidity ≤60% RH, away from heat sources and open flames.
3). Adopt food grade or pharmaceutical grade sealed containers (e.g. aluminum cans, polyethylene bottles), make sure the containers are dry and clean.
4). Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agent, strong acid and strong alkali, store in partitioned area, prohibit mixed storage.
5). The shelf life of the unopened product is usually 2 years under compliant storage conditions; it is recommended to use it as soon as possible after opening and avoid long-term exposure to air.
Stability
1). Stability at room temperature: chemically stable at room temperature under dry and light-protected conditions, not easy to decompose spontaneously.
2). Sensitive factors: high temperature (>60℃) or strong acid / alkali environment may trigger hydrolysis reaction, leading to ester bond breaking; strong oxidizing agents may oxidize it.
3). Compatible with common organic solvents such as alcohols, esters, ketones, etc. Avoid mixing with reactive metals (e.g. sodium, potassium) or strong polar reagents.
4). Products of natural origin usually have low toxicity, but direct contact with skin and eyes should be avoided and protective gear is recommended when handling.
