Application
1). Daily chemicals and cosmetics
Fragrances & Flavors: Used in perfumes, skin care products and detergents as fragrance enhancers due to its fruity and slightly waxy aroma.

Storage
1). Environmental requirements
Temperature: It is recommended to store in a cool place (15-30°C) to avoid high temperature leading to hydrolysis or oxidation (although it is a saturated ester, caution is still needed).
Avoid light: Use brown glass bottles or aluminum foil wrapped containers to prevent degradation caused by ultraviolet light.
Humidity: Store in a sealed container at a relative humidity of <65% to avoid moisture absorption and hydrolysis.
2). Container selection
Material: Give preference to glass, stainless steel or ester-resistant plastics (e.g. HDPE, PTFE), avoid long-term contact with metals such as copper and iron.
Sealing: Nitrogen-filled for protection or add desiccant (e.g. silica gel) to minimize oxygen and moisture contact.
3). Safety measures
Fire and explosion protection: Store area away from ignition sources and static electricity, equipped with explosion-proof facilities (flash point about 113°C).
Ventilation: Ensure that the storage space is well ventilated to avoid accumulation of vapors.
Stability
1). Chemical stability
Hydrolysis reaction: under the condition of strong acid, strong alkali or high temperature and high humidity, it will be gradually hydrolyzed to dodecanoic acid and ethanol, which will lead to the increase of acid value (the acid value needs to be tested regularly).
Oxidative stability: because it does not contain double bonds, the antioxidant property is better than ethyl oleate, but it may still generate trace peroxides due to long-term exposure to oxygen.
2). Physical Stability
Phase Separation: If mixed with other components with big difference in polarity, it may be delaminated when left for a long period of time, so it should be stirred well before use.
Crystallization at low temperature: solid may be precipitated at low temperature (freezing point about -10°C), and liquid can be restored after heating to room temperature.
3). Shelf life and testing
Shelf life: usually stable for 2-3 years under unopened condition, recommended to be used up within 1 year after opening.
Testing index: Regular testing of acid value (AV≤0.5 mg KOH/g), peroxide value (PV≤5 meq/kg) and appearance (clarified and transparent without precipitation).
